Wildflower Valley

A broad alpine valley opens beneath snow-tipped mountains, its near slope covered in purple, yellow and red wildflowers. Fir trees descend toward the green floor, while bright clouds move across an intense blue sky. The wide view offers both bold color and long natural lines.

Purple flowers crowd the lower slope, interspersed with smaller red and yellow blooms. Their stems are still visible close to the viewer; farther down the valley, color becomes a fine scattering over the grass. Dark conifers mark the slopes between the meadow and the distant peaks. Snow follows the upper gullies in thin pale traces. A broad blue sky holds much less fine detail than the foreground, with the mountain profile and cloud edges providing its clearest boundaries.
