Morning Coffee on a Porch

Morning light crosses the boards of a garden porch. A mug rests on a low wooden table beside a cushioned chair, with potted herbs close enough to reach from the seat. Stripes run down the chair back and across its cushion. Beyond the pale railing, shrubs and flowers fill the garden. Nearer the window, the pots cast short, distinct shadows on the worn wood.

Deck boards recede toward the railing, fabric stripes bend around the cushion, and balusters stand vertically beyond the chair. Each set of lines has a different angle, helping distinguish similar pale and brown pieces. By contrast, the mug handle and pot rims form compact curves among the long slats. Leaves cast broken shadows where sunlight reaches the floor, with small patches of brightness showing through the gaps.
