Owl in a Hollow Tree

A screech owl peers from a hollow birch trunk while autumn colors glow softly behind the white bark.

The dark hollow gives you a natural frame for the bird's face. Birch bark is easier when sorted by its long white strips and small dark marks, while autumn color belongs in separate red, yellow and green groups. Work from the trunk into the background so the owl does not disappear among the leaves. For a harder board, use owl in a hollow tree as the centre of a few short runs instead of searching for one large match.
