Summer Fruit Tart by a Window

A fruit tart covered with berries and peach slices cools on a wire rack beside a bright window. Blueberries, raspberries and blackberries form small colour clusters across the custard, while a folded linen cloth, loose crumbs and bowls of fruit fill the edges. Outside, a soft garden blur keeps the light open without competing with the tart.

The fluted pastry edge is a reliable way to build the tart before sorting the fruit. Group berries by their dark centres and highlights, then use the peach slices as broad orange shapes. The rack creates a neat grid beneath the pastry, with shadows crossing the sill. Save the garden and white window frame for later, when the warm centre is already joined.
