Venice Canal

Venetian palaces line a broad canal beneath a bright blue sky. Cream, yellow and terracotta facades rise directly from the water, with balconies, arched windows and a slender bell tower leading into the distance. A dark gondola rests near the foreground while the buildings ripple in long reflections below.

A dark gondola follows the near bank beneath pale balconies and arched windows. Each facade has a different arrangement of openings, even where neighboring walls share yellow or cream paint. A slender bell tower rises farther along the canal. Below the buildings, reflections stretch their colors into wavy vertical strips, interrupted by blue ripples. Rooflines remain sharper against the clouds than those same warm colors on the moving water.
