Venice Canal

Venetian palaces line a broad canal beneath a bright blue sky. Cream, yellow and terracotta facades rise directly from the water, with balconies, arched windows and a slender bell tower leading into the distance. A dark gondola rests near the foreground while the buildings ripple in long reflections below.

Build the gondola and nearest facades first, keeping each building's window style and wall color in its own group. Rooflines form a stepped horizon that separates architecture from the clouds. The bell tower is a narrow but distinctive landmark near the center. In the canal, straight windows become wavy vertical streaks, and warm walls pick up cooler blue between their reflections. The water's moving pattern is easier once the real buildings are complete, because each reflected color then has a clear source above it.
