Alpine Meadow

Wildflowers spread across a high meadow below a long ridge of snow-streaked mountains. Purple lupines and small pink blooms crowd the foreground, with dark firs and gray boulders interrupting the green slope. Above them, the clear blue sky leaves the jagged peaks as the strongest line in the picture.

Build the mountain ridge from end to end, using snow patches to distinguish neighboring summits. The fir trees form darker vertical groups below it and help set the depth of the valley.

In the meadow, flower size is as useful as color: larger blooms belong near the front, while tiny flecks sit closer to the treeline. Rocks have cool, hard edges that stand apart from leaves and grass. The open sky is a quieter finish, with pieces near the peaks and tall trees providing its most reliable clues.
