Autumn Maple Stairway

In Japan, going out to look at autumn leaves has its own name, momijigari. The custom is often traced back to court nobles of the Heian period, more than a thousand years ago. A mossy stone stairway lined with black lanterns climbs under red and gold maples, the sort of path people walk slowly on purpose. As an autumn maple jigsaw puzzle it is warm color from top to bottom.
