Autumn Maple Stairway

The steps climb out of sight beneath a low roof of maple leaves. Bright red branches cross the top of the picture, with gold leaves glowing farther up the path. A few green shrubs still hold their color beside the stairs. Black lanterns mark the way, their pale window panes lit from within.

Down near the bottom, fallen leaves have collected against the rough edges of the steps. Moss covers much of the wall on the left, while more bare stone shows on the right. The stairway narrows as it rises, so those horizontal stone lines become shorter and closer together towards the bend.
