Basalt Columns beside a Mountain Stream jigsaw puzzle
Dark basalt columns rise from the stream bank in uneven steps. Some faces are tall and straight, while others have broken into lower blocks near the water. Moss clings to the cracks, and small ferns lean out from the wet rock. The stream runs across the lower half in clear green and blue ripples.
Pebbles show through the shallow water near the front, changing from pale tan to grey under the surface. White current lines gather around the larger stones before the water turns darker beside the columns. The best landmarks are the vertical rock edges, fern fronds, moss patches and bright streaks of moving water.
