Volcano Crater Lake

A deep blue lake rests inside a volcanic crater at dusk, ringed by rust-colored ridges and patches of green slope. The caldera curves around the water in a broad oval, with a narrow trail tracing the right-hand rim before it drops toward the foreground. Violet clouds and a warm orange horizon sit above distant volcanic hills.

The water forms a dark, nearly oval shape against the warmer crater wall. Its edge is sharp in some places and shaded in others, where the steep slope meets the lake. Erosion lines descend across the rust-colored rim, unlike the pale trail running around it. Farther away, ridges lose contrast beneath the dusk sky. Their softer outlines help separate the distant hills from the detailed rocks in front.
