Brass Door Knocker on Weathered Paint

A heavy brass knocker hangs on a blue door where years of paint have lifted into irregular flakes. Tarnished gold, green patina and dark screw heads mark the metal, while pale stone trim rises along the right edge. A low threshold crosses the bottom of the picture, catching a broken patch of afternoon shadow.

Build the round ring and its mounting plates before sorting the surrounding boards. Blue paint changes with every peeled layer, exposing grey wood, pale primer and narrow dark cracks underneath. Stone has its own pattern of pores and chips. The close framing leaves no empty backdrop, so small edges and surface changes carry the whole puzzle.
