Cockatoos in a Flowering Gum Tree

Four sulphur-crested cockatoos sit among the flowering gum branches, their white feathers standing out against the blue sky. Yellow crests lift above dark curved beaks, while grey feet grip the rough bark. Cream blossom clusters and long eucalyptus leaves fill the spaces between the birds.

Start with the birds because each pose makes a different shape. The left trunk has peeling bark and deep shadows, while the thinner branches cross the center in a loose network. Leaves shift from dusty green to silver at their edges. Blossom heads add small pale bursts, and the distant water and hills give the upper gaps a softer blue-green finish.
