Courtyard Passage under Blue Shutters

Blue shutters open onto a narrow passage lined with pots and climbing flowers. The plaster is chipped in places, exposing rough stone around the doors and windows. A patterned tile border leads toward the arch at the far end. Beyond it, there is a small patch of blue sea.

The tiles are tempting to start with, though their pattern shrinks as it runs down the passage. The nearer shutters offer larger pieces of blue and clear horizontal slats. Pale wall pieces take a little more patience. Compare the cracks, flower shadows and patches of exposed stone before trying to fill the broad sunlit areas between the windows.
