Lawn Bowls Resting on a Bowling Green

A lawn bowl isn't quite round. One side is shaped a little differently from the other, so the bowl runs in a long curve as it slows. The smaller ring on the side shows which way it will bend. Here a few dark bowls lie scattered around the small white jack on a close-mown green, with the ditch and a grassy bank beyond. Nobody has walked up yet to see whose bowl lies closest in the lawn bowls jigsaw puzzle, set on a quiet club afternoon.
