Mantis Shrimp at a Rocky Burrow

A peacock mantis shrimp hunts with a pair of folded clubs that it snaps out faster than almost any other animal strike. The water in front of the club briefly boils into a tiny bubble. When that bubble collapses, the prey takes a second hit. This one peers out of its burrow in algae-covered rock, stalked eyes swiveled forward in a mantis shrimp jigsaw puzzle packed with color.
