Meteora Monastery at Sunset

Warm sunset light spreads across Meteora as a stone monastery sits high on a tall rock pillar. Forested cliffs frame the valley below, with distant fields, winding roads and layered mountains fading into the haze. Orange clouds add movement above the scene, while the rock face keeps the center full of cracks, ledges and shadow.

Monastery roofs and walls are the easiest anchors because their straight edges stand apart from the rounded stone. Rock pieces can then be grouped by vertical stains, pale ledges and darker recesses. The winding road in the lower valley gives a small but helpful thread through the greenery. Cloud pieces stay varied thanks to darker patches under the sunset glow.
