Misty Pine Forest

Rain has left the pine forest dark and damp, with mist hanging between the straight trunks. A narrow trail begins among exposed roots and wet stones, then bends out of sight behind the trees. Ferns, moss and young green shoots fill the ground on both sides.

The nearest trunks are dark enough to show individual bark ridges. Farther down the trail, mist reduces their contrast until the trees become pale vertical strips. Exposed roots cross the path at lower angles, and wet stones catch short highlights along the ground. Moss covers their rounded surfaces more evenly than the ferns on the bank. Distinguishing those textures is useful here, since most of the scene stays within green and brown.
