Mountain Trail

A dirt path curves across a flowered mountainside toward a rugged line of distant peaks. Fir trees rise along the slope, with yellow, purple and red blooms scattered through the grass beside the trail. Thin cloud softens the blue sky without hiding the mountain profile.

Lay out the path from the lower edge through its bend, using stones and patches of worn soil to follow the curve. Tall firs form dark, recognizable silhouettes and separate the near slope from the valley beyond. The mountain range can then be assembled through its snow traces and alternating sunlit faces. Flower pieces differ by scale as well as color, with larger petals near the front and small flecks farther away. The remaining grass is easier once the path, trees and bloom clusters have divided it into distinct sections.
