Ochre Squares on Cobalt

Uneven ochre squares drift across a deep cobalt ground. Some overlap at the corners, while others sit alone with a visible brush edge around them. Rust accents interrupt the blue and yellow without turning the composition into a regular grid.

The squares look simple until their edges are inspected. Paint thins at some corners and gathers at others, changing the outline from piece to piece. Cobalt has several quiet shifts in tone, so do not put every blue fragment together by shade. Use a brush mark or an overlap to confirm the join, especially around the centre where shapes sit close together.
