Peonies on a Linen Tablecloth

Pink and cream peonies fill a clear glass jar on the linen-covered table. The central flower opens in deep rose layers, with paler blooms behind it and one heavy head leaning over the right side. Green leaves break through the petals, while stems and water remain visible through the jar below. A small bowl and pottery jug sit at the edges.

Loose petals make bright little shapes across the cloth, but the linen itself is just as useful. Its folds run in long uneven bands, changing from warm beige in the light to grey near the table edge. Work from the darkest flower centre outward, then match the repeating petal curves. The window and green garden bring a calmer, cooler section behind the bouquet.
