Rowing Shells at the Boathouse

Two racing shells rest on wooden stands outside the boathouse, their pointed bows reaching towards the front of the dock. One hull is white, the other yellow. Silver outriggers extend from the open seating wells, and a row of red-and-white oar blades stands against the green wall.

More boats are stored inside the open bay. Outside, fallen leaves lie between the dock boards and around a coil of rope. Across the water, yellow and orange trees make a broken reflection below the buoy line. Those reflections run up and down, while ripples cut across them. The boats give you two long, clear shapes to work from before the smaller fittings and the darker parts of the storage racks.
