Spring Rain on Magnolia Branches

Pale magnolia blossoms open across dark wet branches after a spring rain. Large flowers sit close to the camera, their pink centers and ivory petal edges covered with small droplets. Behind them, a quiet park path curves through grass and more blooming trees, softened by the damp overcast light.

Pink gathers at the base of each blossom and fades toward the pale outer petals. Wet branches pass between the flowers in dark, irregular lines. Their junctions are particularly useful because they are less alike than the blossoms themselves. Beyond the foreground branch, a gray path curves through the park. Its smoother surface separates the close flowers from the smaller, softer blooms on the trees behind them.
