Autumn Lake

A calm mountain lake reflects a ring of orange and gold trees beneath a crisp blue sky. The rocky shoreline curves in from the foreground, and the central peak appears again in the water with softer edges. Bright foliage frames both sides without hiding the open view across the lake.

Orange leaves appear twice here, first as small crisp shapes on the branches and again as broken bands on the lake. Ripples give the reflected foliage a horizontal grain. The central mountain repeats the same distinction, with a sharper ridge above the shore than below it. At the bottom edge, individual stones remain visible through the shallows. Their muted outlines differ from the dry rocks beside the water, despite sharing gray and brown tones.
