Courtyard of a Blue-Tiled Madrasa

Blue tilework covers the courtyard walls in panels of stars, diamonds and small repeating shapes. The pointed arches break that pattern into useful sections, while carved wooden doors add warm brown rectangles between the cooler blues. A low fountain sits in the middle, surrounded by paving laid in narrow blue and cream lines.

The closer pieces have plenty of texture to sort. Glazed tiles catch the sun differently from the pale stone, and each wooden door has its own carved border. Clay pots, leafy plants and a bench soften the lower corners. Start with the big arch shapes, then use the fountain rim and the thin tile lines to connect the quieter areas.
