Emerald Lake

A clear emerald lake lies beneath sharp gray peaks and a dense wall of evergreens. Stones are visible through the shallow foreground, while the deeper center holds a clean reflection of snow, rock and sky. Dark trees along both shores make the water's green color look even brighter.

Build the mountain skyline and its snow patches before tackling the reflection below. The real peaks have crisp ridges and direct sunlight; their mirrored forms are smoother and slightly distorted. Pine trees form narrow, vertical textures that separate them from both rock and water. In the foreground, submerged stones have softened outlines and a green cast, unlike the dry boulders at the shore. The lake's open areas can then be arranged by depth, moving from transparent turquoise near the bottom edge to darker emerald toward the treeline.
