Frosted Red Berries in Winter

Frost has settled on nearly every edge of these branches. White crystals coat the red berries and trace the veins of the remaining brown leaves. Snow rests in the larger forks, leaving the dark bark exposed underneath. Some berries face straight towards us, showing their small dark centers.

Through the branches, there is a strip of blue water and a wooded slope on the far bank. The close clusters are much sharper than the distant trees. Start with whichever patch of red you can recognize, then follow its stem back to a thicker branch. The leaves vary from rusty orange to a much darker brown beneath the frost.
