Limestone Cliffs above a Clear Cove

Pale limestone cliffs curve around a clear cove, their layered shelves catching the sun above turquoise water. A small boat rests near the shore, while scrubby plants and purple flowers break up the pale rock in the foreground. Tide pools reveal rounded stones and shifting reflections along the lower edge.

The nearest rock shelves make strong horizontal groups, especially where their shadows cut across the stone. Build the boat and its narrow wake next, then use the cove's blue-green bands to connect the middle distance. Coastal plants have different leaf shapes even when their colors overlap. The foreground pools offer darker outlines and bright reflected stones. Leave the open sky and far headland until the end, when the cliff line gives them a firm boundary.
