Mountain Cabin

A timber cabin sits among tall pines at the edge of a quiet mountain lake. Its stone chimney, porch rails and warm brown logs stand out against dark evergreen trunks, while the water stretches toward a wooded ridge under a pale sky. Rocks and a small dock break up the shoreline in front of the house.

Log courses and porch rails make short horizontal lines beneath the cabin's sloping roof. Tall trunks continue upward behind it, with irregular branches against the sky. Along the shore, gray rock faces alternate with grass and darker gaps below the bank. Their reflections lose some of that detail in the water. The distant forest is smaller and more evenly colored than the nearby pines, which helps separate the far ridge from the trees around the cabin.
