Neuschwanstein in Winter

Fresh snow covers Neuschwanstein Castle and the forested slope beneath it. Pale walls and dark rooflines stand out against the Bavarian Alps, with towers rising at different heights across the ridge. Snow clings to the fir trees and rocky ledges below the castle, leaving plenty of small shadows in the white.

Dark roof edges outline the castle against the snowy mountains. Rows of windows repeat across the pale walls, but towers and changes in height divide them into separate sections. Below the buildings, snow rests on branches in smaller, less regular patches. A white piece with a straight dark edge may belong to a roof. One crossed by several fine twigs is more likely part of the forest.
