Petra Treasury at Dawn

Dawn reaches the Treasury at Petra through a narrow break in the sandstone canyon. Warm light catches the carved columns, pediments and weathered figures, while the rock walls on both sides stay cooler and darker. Loose stones and worn steps spread across the foreground instead of leaving the ground plain.

Column lines are the best place to start, followed by the dark doorway and the sharp ledges above it. Canyon walls need closer attention, but their colors are not all the same. The left side has smoother red curves, while the right wall carries darker holes and rougher blackened patches. Small rocks near the base help join the facade to the dusty floor when the larger architectural pieces are already in place.
