Travertine Pools in Evening Light

A chain of pale mineral terraces steps down the hillside, each rim holding a different shade of blue water. The nearest pool has a rough chalky edge and small ripples, while the higher basins catch the last sunlight in long amber streaks. Beyond them, the hills settle into softer green and brown bands.

The white stone is never quite the same from one terrace to the next. Tiny holes, wet patches and darker mineral lines give the pale areas something to hold onto. Follow the curved pool rims through the foreground, then use the straight horizon and the glowing reflections to sort the distant pieces. It is a peaceful scene with plenty of close detail.
