Turquoise Pigment on Cracked Clay

Turquoise pigment has settled into the broken channels of a clay slab, leaving thick ridges, loose crumbs and fine dust across the surface. Rust and ochre earth fill the neighboring cracks, while chalk-white pieces show where the dry clay has lifted away. A short natural-fiber brush rests along the right edge, still marked with blue powder.

This close view is all about texture. Smooth color is rare, so sort by the direction of the cracks, the size of the pigment grains and the small changes from bright turquoise to deep teal. The brush brings a clear bundle of lines, while the white clay and orange earth give you solid landmarks around the edges. It makes a compact but surprisingly intricate puzzle.
