Whitewashed Village Lane by the Sea

A narrow whitewashed lane descends between blue shutters and terracotta pots towards bright water. Worn stone steps run through the centre, with flowering vines climbing the left wall and small balconies projecting from the right. A little sailboat and a distant headland sit beyond the rooftops, giving the lane a clear destination.

The blue doors and shutters are useful colour islands among the white walls. Build the central steps next, following the uneven stones as they narrow towards the sea. Terracotta pots add warm round shapes along both sides, while the flowers can be kept in small pink and white groups. Leave the water and headland for the end, when the opening between the houses has taken shape.
