First Frost on Woodland Ferns

Silver frost traces every leaflet on the ferns beside the woodland path. Some fronds lift towards the light, while others bend over mossy rocks and a thick layer of copper leaves. The nearest stones are rounded and green with moss, giving the lower left a set of distinct outlines among the fine fern shadows.

Thin tree trunks lead the eye into the brighter part of the forest, where morning sun appears between branches. The path stays dark and uneven as it winds past roots, fallen leaves and small stones. Start with the pale frost edges, then follow each frond back to its stem. Bark, moss and leaf litter give the softer background enough texture to finish without guessing.
