Northern Lights over Norway

Green aurora bands sweep above a fishing village tucked into a Norwegian fjord. Red timber cabins stand on pilings along the rocky shore, their windows throwing amber lines across the dark water. Small boats rest beside a maze of docks, while snow clings to the steep mountains on both sides of the harbor.

Cabin walls and harbor lights give the lower half plenty of firm landmarks before the mountain faces and sky take over. Reflections need closer sorting because green, gold and deep blue repeat across the ripples, though each vertical streak lines up with a light or building above it. Fine stars and changes in the aurora's edge separate the broad night-sky pieces without making them feel empty.
