Northern Lights over Norway

Green aurora bands sweep above a fishing village tucked into a Norwegian fjord. Red timber cabins stand on pilings along the rocky shore, their windows throwing amber lines across the dark water. Small boats rest beside a maze of docks, while snow clings to the steep mountains on both sides of the harbor.

Warm cabin windows cast long amber reflections below the docks. The painted walls have straight edges, whereas their reflections stretch and break across the water. Higher up, snow traces the mountain ridges beneath the aurora. Its green bands are brightest along their lower edges and fade into the blue night sky. The buildings offer dense detail; the sky is a slower section, where small changes in light become more important.
